The Samsung UN55B6000 and the Samsung UN55B7000 are two of Samsung’s top LED-lit HDTV sets. As such, they share many similarities – both advantages and disadvantages – but also carry a few distinct differences which account for the slightly higher price of the latter. Here’s a closer look at the two models. Let’s start with the similar features. As mentioned earlier, both are edge-lit LED HDTV sets. This means that they both produce very deep black levels, though not as deep as the local-dimming LEDs. This feature also allows both to be very energy efficient, run cooler and weigh less than most HDTVs. Aside from this, both models sport nearly the same design, except for the fact that the transparent outer edge of the UN55B6000 is thinner than that of the UN55B7000 but still equal on all four sides. They both have the same border available only in what seems to be Samsung’s favorite color – red, and the same elegant, swivel stands and special wall mounts. The UN55B6000 also has the same extensive connectivity suite as the UN55B7000 – extensive digital connectivity, that is. If you have analog equipment, you might have a hard time but if not, you will have four HDMI inputs – all lined up neatly on the rear panel – along with a component video connection at your disposal. There is also a VGA-style PC connection and two USB ports for convenient media sharing from your other digital devices. If you turn on either HDTV, you will also find that they have the same user-friendly on-screen menu and picture controls, which include four adjustable picture modes, five color temperature presets and four aspect ratio selections. And if you try watching a fast-paced action movie, you can find the same dejudder processing system in action, which, combined with 120Hz refresh rate, creates superb motion resolution. So how do you distinguish the UN55B6000 from the UN55B7000? The interactive features is the key. Indeed, the main advantage the UN55B7000 has over the UN55B6000 and the reason why it costs more is because it has more interactive features, like the Yahoo widgets that are found on many high-end HDTVs, the built-in content library of recipes, exercises and HD photos that has become one of the trademarks of Samsung HDTVs and access to media files on networked computers via its DLNA compatibility. The only thing it lacks in this sense is the capability to stream videos from online servers directly – something some more expensive sets are equipped with. On the other hand, the Samsung UN55B6000 has only the InfoLink feature – a basic portal to online information such as new headlines, local weather reports and custom stock market updates, no DLNA compliance and no content library for you to enjoy. Other differences are harder to discern, like the more saturated colors of the UN55B7000 or the warmer blues and better shadow detail of the UN55B6000. In any case, the effects of these on the picture quality of each model is also hard to discern, so you will only see breathtaking images with accurate, realistic colors and deep blacks. That alone is enough reason to buy the Samsung UN55B6000, though if you have more money to spend and want an HDTV you can truly rely on for online information or one that offers network streaming, then the UN55B7000 should suit you just fine.
Continue Reading »Before buying an HDTV, you should learn about its pros and cons first to find out if it is really the one you want. In the case of the Panasonic TC-P58S1, it has a number of each, which are explained in detail below. Picture quality is the strength of the Panasonic TC-P58S1. Indeed, it can deliver very deep blacks, just as deep as LED-lit LCD displays or the best Plasma sets around. This leads to sharper and more realistic images overall, with impeccable shadow detail and rich colors, even if they are not the most accurate. Even during fast motion sequences, the images do not suffer from blurring but rather retain their superb quality, as expected of a Plasma with a 600Hz Sub-field drive. The TC-P58S1 is also more energy-efficient than previous Plasmas, thanks to its Neo PDP panel which lowers power consumption. It is easy to use, too, with a clicker full of buttons that vary in color, shape and size, making them easy to distinguish even in the dark in the absence of a backlight and a straightforward on-screen menu that covers a huge portion of the screen. As for design, this can be a good or a bad thing for the TC-P58S1 depending on how you look at it or what you want. If you want an HDTV that easily stands out and makes jaws drop even when turned off, then you might want to go with a different model. But if you want a classic black piece with minimal accents so you can keep your eyes on what you’re watching, then the TC-P58S1 is just that, with its only accent being a thin silver strip at the bottom edge and with only the company and brand logos, power button and indicator light gracing the frame. Moving on the cons, the TC-P58S1 does not come with the Viera Cast, Panasonic’s interactive suite, so it has no capability to receive online updates or access online videos. If you want these, you will need to go with one of the models from the G10 or V10 series but you will have to pay more. The Panasonic TC-P58S1 also falls short when it comes to picture settings, which many users, especially videophiles, rely on to tweak the images on the screen to perfection according to their own standards. Indeed, there are no gamma controls or color management settings or any of the more advanced adjustments, just the five picture modes – four of which are adjustable, three color temperature presets and five aspect ratio selections, as well as limited noise reduction options and a function which adjusts the picture quality to suit the ambient lighting. The same goes for connectivity. While three HDMI inputs and two component video inputs are present, those who look for a PC input, plenty of analog connections or a USB port will be disappointed. There is a SD card slot, though, so you can view your photos and videos on the big screen and share them with friends and family. Finally, the Panasonic TC-P58S1 also has problems with processing 1080p and 24p sources properly, and while this is another subtle issue, videophiles are better off looking for other models that can display Blu-ray content without hitching motion. The verdict? The TC-P58S1 is not recommended for videophiles but it is still a great choice for the rest who want to focus on the amazing viewing experience an HDTV can deliver without paying too much.

When you’re watching movies at home with your family, it’s not simply the photographs that you like but also the sounds. It causes you to feel so much into the film and you’re feeling the bass the subwoofer brings. A subwoofer is designed to reproduce low audible frequencies which are answerable for good sounds that you hear from your PC and television. A setup where the speakers with a subwoofer are terribly common today, usually a subwoofer is as the same size as the standard speakers of a PC. There are stand-alone subwoofers which are like little cubes to a size of a water-heater sized cabinet. The stand-alone subwoofers have high-powered amplifier which drives the woofer to create a good bass output. These categories of subwoofers have a line called RCA input which receives LFE or the low frequency effect signals from Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks. Subwoofers are already simple to find because they are generally available in hi-fi stores, electronic stores and computer stores. There are also outlets online which will auction new and 2nd hand subwoofers with different designs you can select from. Excellent subwoofers are found in top of the range electronic outlets, you should also watch out for weekend sales, or end of the month sales. What to look for in a subwoofer? First, you have to check if your receiver has an LFE output. If you don’t find an LFE output you must try a satellite subwoofer spokesperson system. If the speaker is already superseded, the subwoofer may not give the quality sounds. If you bought a costly spokesman with digital A / V receiver then you should couple it with a top notch subwoofer. 2nd, you must identify the scale of the subwoofer you want. Subwoofer may not correspond to the scale of your speakers but sometimes subwoofers are engineered to amplify the bass output. Be cautious when selecting a subwoofer size because the size does not always equate to its power. 3rd, you need to consider the output of the subwoofer. If you are living in an apartment building and you have neighbours who do not need disturbance, that implies you have got to think twice if you’ll still buy a subwoofer. Given this sort of situation, you might not be able to use the power of the subwoofer. fourth, experiment where you may place the subwoofer in your room. Sizes of the subwoofer differ and same goes for its power. You can’t purchase a very strong subwoofer without a place allotted for it in your place. fifth, you need to decide if you want to buy subwoofers without or with the amplifiers. There are plate amplifiers built in the subwoofers and there are subwoofers that do not come with amplifiers. 5th, consider your budget. Whether you are thinking of purchasing a strong or average subwoofer, it will always depend on your financial position. You may ask the electronic shop staff the cheaper brands of subwoofers but there are times that you can select the subwoofer and amplifiers separately and will not cost much.

Sometimes even if one has the best sound system, if he doesn’t know how to set it up properly, there will still be an issue with the sound that comes out of it. This is what wrong installation can do. It is important to set up your PC subwoofer properly to make the most out of it and to have a raised level of pleasure as it’s used by you to hear music or to just listen to the background as you play your favourite online game. The effect and the bass quality can add to the thrill that you can experience while playing. Compared to treble and midrange, deep bass is less directional. This means that you can place your subwoofer anywhere you like. However, it is important to do some refining to be able to achieve higher quality. The very first thing to do is to find the best spot to setup your PC subwoofer. Position your subwoofer to your fave place in your room, connect and play some music. While the music plays, study the low frequencies in the different areas of the room. You may notice that there are spots that have higher lifts of bass thanks to the interaction of the notes to the room’s acoustics. These explicit spots are called nodes and these are the best locations for your subwoofer. When you play music using your PC subwoofer, don’t turn the volume too much. Some folk just raise the volume to the maximum level thinking that the best quality will come out by doing this. The reality is this is not true. The bass should not control. It is there to just contribute when suitable. Having far too much of it’s not a delightful sound to your ears. Regulate the volume, listen and observe which level will bring out the best combination. the best path to check your subwoofer level is by playing a piece of music and playing with the volume. Go to the level where the bass starts to rule and then bring the level down a bit. It takes your sensitive sense of hearing to ascertain which level already has way too much of bass. If you can’t determine this, you can ask somebody to do it for you. If you think you already have determined the right level, you can still have somebody certify if the right amount of bass is given to the music that you are playing. It is advisable to test the volume level while you play a familiar music. This way, you will know the way in which the music is supposed to be playing in conditions of bass. It is going to be easier to mix and control if you play a well-recognized sound. If you found the right node for your subwoofer and you have regulated it at a level that you can fully enjoy the music that it plays, then you have completely and satisfactorily set up your PC subwoofer. However, from time to time you’ve got to check and redo the process to be certain that get the best quality.
Continue Reading »Gone are those days when you just need to listen to two speaker sets and be contented with whatever audio quality comes out of your PC speaker system. Because of the decreasing value of electronic products, the possibility of purchasing a PC subwoofer system has become high and the chance of enjoying music with good bass level has already became higher. With a PC subwoofer system, you are not tied to just listening to treble and mid-range frequencies. You have the bass frequencies that will add to your enjoyment as you listen to your favourite songs or as you listen to the background of your favourite online game. Usually, a PC subwoofer system has 2 satellite speakers with a new subwoofer and a matching amplifier. The amplifier can be housed in the same subwoofer enclosure. This is named the 2.1 sound system. This suggests 2 satellite speakers and one subwoofer in one. These days, you can now enjoy 5, six, or maybe seven to one configuration systems. Expectedly, you can accomplish better quality of audio output with any of these configurations. Essentially, the main purpose of this system is to use the PC’s sound card for audio output. The amplifier then receives such output in the form of a 2.1 stereo, 5.1 surround sound system, or 6.1 or 7.1 sound channel. As a role of the amplifier, it magnifies each one of the channels and outputs to the speakers and the PC subwoofer. This is the sound that you hear when you switch your spokesperson on as you listen to music. If you have subwoofer systems installed, each has its own standalone subwoofer. The purpose is to enhance and bolster the lower audible frequency range – the bass – to the appropriate level. This improves the quality of the sound that comes out of the system. The difference is significant when you compare the result to the output of the two speaker sets of the olden days. Normally, a subwoofer stands on the floor instead of putting it on a table. Because of the possibility of shaking, it is not sensible to put it on the table or a non-stable surface. You can get quality PC subwoofer systems from electronic stores. The common brands include Creative, Altec Lansing, Logitech and other well-liked brands. You just have to be certain that when you buy your PC subwoofer, your sound card supports the configuration that you are choosing. You won’t have a problem with this with the newer machines. if you have an old PC, you could have an incompatibility problem as old sound cards do not support the more advanced configuration. You can also buy good PC subwoofer systems from online stores. You can check on the product specs from the website and compare these with other brands. You can also order online and the product will just be brought to you. You can sometimes enjoy shipping free as this is one of the offers of some manufacturers to help more folk to shop on the internet. If you have selected the PC subwoofer that you like, you are now ready to enjoy the most out of your PC and have fun as you listen to good music.
