The most recent hype in the mobile phone market has been due to the release of Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 operating system which is running on no less than five separate handsets, three of which are manufactured by HTC. HTC is a Taiwanese corporation that is known for its innovation in smartphone technology and its close relationship with the IT giant, Microsoft. Out of the five handsets that premiere the new operating system, the HTC Mozart 7, on paper at least, holds the most promise, but what is it actually like?
The HTC Mozart 7s best features include the brand new Windows operating system, a 3.7 inch S-LCD screen and a full eight megapixel camera. What makes the camera special is not only the large resolution photos that you can take, but also the xenon flash and the high definition video record function. To power the Mozart 7, HTC incorporates into the design their, now common 1GHz snapdragon processor, and an eight gigabyte non-expandable internal memory drive. On top of these things are the industry standard features of WiFi capability, Bluetooth connectivity and GPS.
Compared to the other WP7 releases from LG and Samsung and also the HD7 and 7 Trophy from HTC, the Mozart 7 has the best camera of the lot, offering an eight megapixel capture resolution compared to five megapixels for each of the others. The design of the casing is truly exceptional and really stands out from most other mobile phones. The rear casing in particular uses rubber and aluminum in a flowing asymmetrical design that certainly captures the eye.
Unfortunately, even though the Mozart 7 has the ability to capture digital images to a resolution of eight megapixels, the software which renders the images has trouble correctly reproducing colors. The xenon flash goes some way to remedy this in dark conditions, compared to an LED flash, but ultimately the result is way off the mark and ends up poorly exposed. Contrary to what its name suggests, the Mozart 7 is not the greatest at reproducing sound and music. There are audio output adjustments that can be made to equalizer settings and soundstage which help, to an extent, but the factory supplied headphones do the unit no justice at all and ultimately the result is below average.
In summary, the Mozart 7 is a great phone with very few downsides and once the teething problems with the WP7 OS are ironed out, it will be an accomplished handset. Strangely, with the main USP of this phone compared to the other Windows Phone 7 handsets available now being the eight megapixel camera, this is the one thing that seriously lets it down; but that point aside, the Mozart 7 is a very capable unit and a great purchase if you are looking for a new smartphone.

The Saudi Education Ministry is planning to provide all schools with Internet services.
The Ministry of Education under its new Education Administration Program is equipping all schools with Internet and a central database. The database, accessible from anywhere, will be of immense help to the parents, as it will provide complete information on pupil educational progress and attendance.
Reputed communications companies are now being contacted to install the Internet services at all the schools for girls and boys.
Although Internet was introduced in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 1994, it was not until 1999 that academic; medical; and research institutions got full access to the Internet.
Internet was officially made available in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2005, when the number of Internet users in Saudi Arabia had grown to 2.54 million.
Universities and colleges in Saudi Arabia are now adopting an e-learning program and it is estimated that Saudi Arabia’s e-learning market will expand by 33 percent annually over the next five years.
The Saudi government has also signed a USD 3.1 billion plan to improve the education system; the King Abdullah project has allocated around half the funds to improve the education environment and another SR3.58 billion for extracurricular activities.
King Abd-al-Aziz deserves much of the credit for modernizing Saudi Arabia’s communications network in the 1930s, when he established an extensive telegraph system to make communications a governmental priority. Since that time, the government has spent more than USD 23 billion to improve its communications system. According to Saudi Arabia Information Technology Report Q-4/ 2010, “Per capita IT spend will reach $173 by 2014, as PC penetration rises to more than 30 percent. Youthful demographics and a growing population will support a positive market trajectory.”
With the introduction of Internet in schools in Saudi Arabia, a new teenagers market would be created eventually, transforming Saudi Arabia’s information technology market.
All Saudi schools were earlier permitted to obtain access to the Internet, but the problem for most schools was the cost of wiring all the appropriate classrooms. Additionally, there were speed issues when that many users started accessing the web at the same time.
According to Saudi Arabia Education Tatweer Project, it is mandatory for all schools to have five fundamental technology requirements and these are computer laptops; network connectivity; modern infrastructure; and security.
Once this project is completed, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which currently ranks at 69 according to World Economic Forum’s Executive Opinion Survey 2008-2009 will duly go up in ranking to overtake Qatar, which is currently at 15.
