The Blackberry Torch 9800 is the first Smartphone having both a Blackberry keyboard and a touch screen. Utilizing BlackBerry 6 operating system, it provides very interesting features such as an universal search and auto-wrap text zoom. A unique feature of the phone is that it comes with the new WebKit-based browser released early this year for BlackBerry. It is the first phone of the kind to use the new browser that can operate quickly, efficiently and beautifully. The display is amazing having a resolution of 360×480 pixels. The camera supports 5MP and comes with a flash. Other features include 4GB of internal memory, 3G, GPRS, EDGE, GPS and Wi-Fi. The phone provides a complete solution to all of your daily mobile activities which may be business related or personal.
Coming to each of its feature in detail, the phone supports a general 2G network that is GSM 850/900/1800/1900 as well as 3G network that is HSPDA 850/1900/2100/800. Considering technology has been advanced with Bluetooth, there is no need for an infrared port. The blackberry torch has size dimensions of 111 x 62 x 14.6 mm and a weight 161 grams.
The new BlackBerry 6 OS remedies some of the common problems that were reported on BlackBerry operating systems before. The browser experience has been enhanced, the problem of too many “menus within menus” has been reduced to a great deal, there is a powerful universal search that lets you aggregate RSS feeds and services like Facebook and Twitter within a single view. The new OS has looked impressive with an improved look and much more consistency. RIM has cleaned up and smoothed out a lot of iconography and the text in user interface.
A problem lies in the compatibility of software applications with the new OS. There are several applications that worked with previous versions of the OS but now do not work with the BlackBerry Torch.
BlackBerry Torch accessories include Wireless Headsets, mount Speakerphones, BlackBerry presenters, Sync pods, Charging Pods, Data Sync Cables, Freedom Pro Keyboards and many more. These accessories cater those who are always on the go and to those who are always busy at the office. There are accessories designed just for entertainment, for example the BlackBerry® Music Gateway which lets you wirelessly play music on your BlackBerry. The Blackberry Torch case also comes in a variety of shapes and sizes including Vaja Customizable handcrafted case, Incipo Carrying case, customizable leather notebook by Vaja and simple leather cases as designed for all other cell phones. The Blackberry Torch screen protector is a must have to protect the sensitive display screen from dust and scratches. Good screen protectors are available that last as long as the life of the Smartphone and need not be replaced. Their prices are extremely affordable.
